autism schools in indiana:
Question by chelseamusickfan: can anyone give me a list of resources available for autistic adults in the state of colorado?
my brother is 20, I think. he lives with my parents and 2 younger siblings in colorado. My mom cant find any services to work with adults with autism. She homeschools my siter and brothers and I guess she just couldnt give my brother the kind of help he needed, and now its to late for him to go to school and she doesnt know what else to do. I know he can learn things because when they lived close by, I helped him learn how to say a few things, but with no one working with him, he has resorted to grunts and crude signing. he is very deep into his autism, and i think if he had at least occationaly someone working with him, he could still brobably learn quite a bit. i know when he was 7 or 8, he could tie his shoes and write his name, but that kind of ability faded as soon as he left his school at about the same age. I just hate hearing about the decline in his state, and knowing i cant hep him from indiana is killing me more. please if anyone can help point me in the right direction, i would be gratefull. as far as i know he is on disability and medicaid.

Watch for the Red Flags of Autism
(The following red flags may indicate a child is at risk for atypical development, and is in need of an immediate evaluation.)
In clinical terms, there are a few “absolute indicators,” often referred to as “red flags,” that indicate that a child should be evaluated. For a parent, these are the “red flags” that your child should be screened to ensure that he/she is on the right developmental path. If your baby shows any of these signs, please ask your pediatrician or family practitioner for an immediate evaluation:
* No big smiles or other warm, joyful expressions by six months or thereafter
* No back-and-forth sharing of sounds, smiles, or other facial expressions by nine months or thereafter
* No babbling by 12 months
* No back-and-forth gestures, such as pointing, showing, reaching, or waving by 12 months
* No words by 16 months
* No two-word meaningful phrases (without imitating or repeating) by 24 months
* Any loss of speech or babbling or social skills at any age

But obviously you would need to see an psychiatrist or physician to diagnosed autism.

my brother is autistic, and he has hard a really rough life,
i think that no matter what videos you show them they just dont have the ability to understand, they cant see that they are different, because they may not want to, though it really depend on levels,

Is she receiving speech and physical therapy? She should be if she isn’t. Since she is 3 years old these services would be through your local school district.

autism test:
Question by mslatin: Anyone know what the IgG4 means with allergy test results? And how this may relate to Autism?
My friends son has autism and his test results came back stating that the IgG4 was extremely high and the specialist told her “We don’t know what this means?” And it seems to me that someone should know something about this. Oddly enough, his blood results came back the same way. Does anyone have any insight as to what this may mean?

Question by ireenie08: Is anyone paranoid about autism and constantly looking for signs in their infant?
I have a 8 month old boy and am constantly worried about autism. I know that it’s difficult to tell at this age, but I’m just curious if anyone else is fearful as well? Does anyone else think they see subtle signs of autism in their baby, but are probably just being irrational like me?

autism books:
Question by E.J: Can anyone reccomend some books that deal with social differences such as autism and the like?
I need a book that deals with social differences like autism and the fact that it is okay to be different that would be suitable for adolescents to read as a set text in a school. Preferably recent, fiction texts that students would enjoy studying.
Thanks! =]

autism signs:
Question by PregnantMama: Anyone have a child who is very young and displaying autism signs?
I have an 18 month old who is exhibiting all the key signs of autism. He has been referred to a pediatrician who also thinks he has autism. I am really having difficulty finding ways to help him cope. I have a lot of people helping him, but we haven’t been able to find some real key comfort things to help him.
Does anyone else have any children who were diagnosed with autism young? How did you cope? How did you help your child?

Answer by *Thomas Is Our Autistic Wonder*
Hun you have not really said ‘what’ signs with autism there are various and each depends on the severity of the autism, Thomas <<<<< was three with he was diagnosed here in the UK for some reason they seem to leave children longer than they do in the USA .. Thomas wasn't talking at aged three wouldn't play or interact with his twin sister at all, hated cuddles or being held and played with parts of a toy, now Thomas is 10 he is non verbal and still in nappies/diapers .. we were given ways to cope and help his behaviour buy its best to know what and if in fact you are dealing with autism, the doctors with help you with this when and if you get a diagnoses, at 18 months not many children talk or talk well, but as i say it does depend what other 'symptoms' your son does have
best of luck

Hard to access those. Maybe you should go to a local university and access their computer a and/or library catalog. Otherwise peer-reviewed articles aren’t readily available to the public.
