A Look at autism checklist in Autism question…..?
autism checklist:
Question by *~*love always*~*: Autism question…..?
Ok I asked a question earlier about my bf’s 4 year old son. All the sudden over the last few weeks 2-3 he has basically quit talking. When this first started he was mubbling, talking very softly & we noticed he was putting his tongue on the side of his mouth when he would talk. My bf’s ex wife refuses to believe that this is a problem..She claim’s its just a phase but my bf wants to get thier son into the doctor so when he tries to take him she always says that something came up etc
Several people mentioned that it could be autism. Would symptoms just now start showing up? I thought autism was normally noticable by 1 or 2. Or could the symptoms have been there all along & they were not noticing them? I have only been dating him 6 months but when we 1st started dating his son was speaking fine.
He is in speech therapy but he seems to be regressing instead of improving. Where is somewhere I can get a ‘checklist’ of autism symptoms so I can look to see if he shows anymore signs?
Now he won’t talk at all. He hasn’t said a single word other then daddy & sissy in at least the 2 days when I have been with them. I don’t know how much longer it has been going on when he was at his mom’s house

webmd would work, but you really should get him to the doctor. this was on an episode of scrubs where perry’s friend’s son built a block castle perfectly and with perfect color combinations, which is how he discovered he had autism. even if its nothing, its better to be safe then sorry. i hope everything works out well.

autism checklist and AUTISM SIGNS 3year old?
autism checklist:
Question by mariany: AUTISM SIGNS 3year old?
My son is already 3 years old and still not talking,. he repeats words when i ask him to though but he doesn’t communicate. I searched the internet for autism signs., there are a few sites with checklist for my guidance. And it says that my son has MILD AUTISM… (he likes playing with other children, he doesn’t have his own “world”, he does have a good eye contact too) but there were also signs that he possess like (very irritable, delayed speech of course, does not point to what he needs or like etc.. )
My question is will he be better when i enroll him at a Toddler school?
( i don’t have the money yet to have him checked to a developmental psychologist)
i need help , support and advice please…
Thank you for the advice.. =p and you gave me hope ms. La’Miya R. and to all as well.. i am from the philippines.. Autism is not an important issue in this country., One must have lots of money in order to have a very good treatment and or care for autism. So i really admire your country for the benefits you are receiving.. unlike here (we have public healthcare providers here but they treat us like crap, and sometimes extort money when they think you belong in a middle class).. =( anyway… thank you for your warm advices., it helped me a lot…i have already accepted that my son is autistic., i am just praying that he gets better… i hope all of our babies will… thanks again..

I really don’t want to the a/hole here, but it doesn’t matter if you don’t have the money or not. If you think your son displays any signs of autism, you need to have him evaluated. Pre-schools and toddler schools aren’t trained to diagnose and treat autism. If anything he will end up getting kicked out because they can’t deal with it.
Go to early intervention if you are in the US. Look in the phone book. They will help you. My son is autistic and he can’t go to a real school.
Although delayed speech and being irritable doesn’t actually mean autism. He could just be slow to talk and get irritated because he can’t communicate. None the less early intervention will hook you with speech pathologists. My son is only 2 and speaks like a 5 year old. He doesn’t make eye contact though and does live in his own world, along with banging his head on the walls day and night.
He could have hearing issues too. You need to find the money or find an agency in your town that will deal with this.. your son will be extremely disadvantaged if you just throw him into a school and he doesn’t get any therapy… even if he’s just late to speak without autism… you should still get him a speech pathologist. I don’t understand why your PCP hasn’t said something and given you a referral.

Autism Test Could Use Images of Brain
I’m Alex Villarreal with the VOA Special English Health Report, from voaspecialenglish.com | http Doctors currently identify autism disorders by observing behavior. Autism affects social and communication skills. It usually first appears in young children. Now, researchers in the United States think they have found a biological test for autism. A team from Harvard University in Massachusetts and the University of Utah developed it.The test uses an MRI or magnetic resonance imaging machine to look for abnormalities in the brain. Other studies have not shown major structural differences between the brains of autistic people and those without autism. But the latest study did not look at the large structures of the brain. Instead, Harvard’s Nicholas Lange says the team looked at the circuitry — the chemical and electrical pathways that link the different parts of the brain. He says: “The brain may be OK, the parts that do the work may be OK. But the wiring, the cables between the points in the brain, one to another, may be disrupted in some way.”The scientists did MRI scans on sixty males between the ages of eight and twenty-six. Thirty of them had been identified as having mild autism, a form also known as high-functioning autism. The researchers looked at the connections in two areas of the brain that control language and social behavior. They used a technique called diffusion tensor imaging. This way they could observe microscopic fibers to see how well the brain circuitry …

Question by Anora: Found these articles re autism/vaccine links?
Here they are…..
http://www.thinktwice.com/
http://newsblaze.com/story/20080927170755tsop.nb/topstory.html
To all you new parents, and pregnant women, does the info contained in these links make you reconsider vaccination for your new/impending child? My daughter is 16 and had I know then, what I know now, I can honestly say I would NOT have vaccinated her. How about you folks?
Admittedly refusing information, dismissing it as “newspaper hype” and then spewing crap at me youve been programmed with by the same profession that prepetuates these vaccines and the damage they cause, now that is intelligence in action. WOW, I had no idea this part of YA was so stubbornly blind, by choice. By chosing to NOT read the links, you ignore the fact (that means proven, FACT) that both links are indeed backed by NUMEROUS SCIENTIFIC studies……you know, the kind with scientists and doctors and stuff……and, it plainly and clearly says so, complete with additional sources and other studies (they really mean scientific, complete with medical doctors, protocols and everything).
thank you, environmental, for taking this question to exactly where I intended…as a question to incite debate. Silly me for thinking it might be at least somewhat intelligent when dealing with the YA community!!!!! Your answer is the ONLY one Ive gotten so far worth even the time it took to read it. Thank you!
Even if we dont agree on everything….to have an intelligent answer (even if its only one) is exactly what I was looking for. I care not for the ramblings of fear mongering ignorant folk who can do nothing more than spew hatred and recycled garbage.
AND, for what its worth, i never anywhere, in any way shape or form said that vaccines were the ONLY cause. It IS proven that the differing genetic makeup of these children, is triggered by certain vaccines and that is what results in autism or autistic-like conditions.
Best answer:
Answer by Lisa
I’m not going to bother reading the links. Autism is not caused by vaccines and this has been proven over and over again. Those who say otherwise are just looking for a reason other then pure genetics.
I am very happy that I had my daughter vaccinated and would not think twice about doing it again.

You sound like an ignorant spoiled brat!
Your think its a living hell, how do you think your sister feels? I’m sure it breaks her heart to hear him cry all day and not be able to do anything to comfort him. You may think that his crying is senseless but there is a reason for it, your just too stupid to understand it. Maybe you should try doing some research on what autism is so you can understand how its effecting your nephew. Maybe then you will learn to be a little more compassionate.

I am reading a book in a Literature circle called Rules. it is about a young boy with Autism and his sister has to be there for him at all times. autism in toddlers and parents of toddlers with autism…..?
autism in toddlers:
Question by mommy to one: parents of toddlers with autism…..?
My daughter has displayed some unusual behaviors and has made me think that she might have autism. she is almost 2, no real words, does not point, does not wave bye bye, does not seem to recognize everyday items such as ball or cup, knows them but will not point them out, she still does not point to body parts and half of the time when i call her name she acts as if she doesn’t hear me at all. my question is, for those of you that have gone through this with your young toddler, where did you begin? I mean did you start by taking them to their pediatrician first? I am a little confused about what to ask and where to take her. Will her pediatrician do an autism screening or is that something that only certain qualified people can do? I just need a little assistance in where to start all this. i appreciate any help!! thanks
